Commitment to Scholarship AOII encourages all members to excel academically and has many programs designed to assist women in achieving their academic goals. Expectations are high but the support provided by scholarship programs, academic development officer resources, and fellow members makes success attainable. Commitment to College Loyalty From collegiate years on through alumnae involvement, the reason AOIIs continue service is the joy of spending time together and sharing the insights learned from the relationships we build and sustain. My name is Evyn Kuske, and I am the current Upsilon Chapter President of Alpha Omicron Pi at the University of Washington. My freshman year of college came along with a rough transition. Sarai, a fellow AOII member and the woman who would one day become my predecessor as Chapter President, noticed I was struggling and began coming into my room for consistent daily check-ins. These small check-ins turned into a great friendship and slowly, but surely, changed my outlook on my situation. Sarai helped me see all of the opportunities and experiences that were right in front of me to take advantage of, eventually convincing me to become more involved and take on a leadership role in AOII. Needless to say, I have been hooked ever since. Sarai saw something in me that I could not see in myself at the time. She saw someone worth investing in, even when I was putting in little to no effort on my own. This, to me, is what encompasses the experience of Greek involvement, and AOII specifically: unconditional love and support. The stories and photos on our website are only a brief glimpse into this sisterhood that is so special to me and many others. Alpha Omicron Pi is much more than a house full of friends. It is a place full of caring, ambitious women, that will bring a bright spirit into your life you never knew you needed. A former Upsilon Chapter member, UW Panhellenic President, and one of my biggest role models, Gabby Rivera, once told me to lean into what scares you and you will always get the most out of it. I leaned into being an AOII, and it has been one of the most impactful decisions I have ever made. I wish I could put into words all that this organization has done for me. Alpha Omicron Pi has undoubtedly changed my life for the better from the moment I walked through those red doors nearly three years ago. I have found lifelong friends and have been pushed each and every day to become a better, more unapologetic version of myself. It has truly been an honor to have been elected to serve Upsilon and its members as Chapter President. I hope you will choose to lean into AOII so that you may have the chance to experience and cherish this sisterhood just as I have. Roses, Evyn Kuske Stella, Jess, Helen, and Bess became determined that their friendship should last a lifetime. On December 23, 1896, the four climbed the stairs in a small gallery of the old Columbia College Library which led to an old and seldom used room. On January 2, 1897, Alpha Omicron Pi was formally organized at the home of Helen St. Clair.
